An Caitin Dubh Yarn Advent Calendar - 2025

I have a little stash of 2025 yarn advents. It was a little bit goth last year, a shimmering rainbow of saturated jewel tones. This isn't a secret unwrap - the yarn is pictured below.

There are 25 mini-skeins in each calendar, individually wrapped and labelled.

The packaging is all recyclable, and as minimal as I can make it while still keeping the unwrapping fun.

As well as the yarn you'll find a pawful of little crafty extras scattered throughout the calendar. These will be the new 2026 extras.

Bases

Wool bases

4-ply wool - this is a springy, bouncy, sturdy wool with a bit of crunch and character. (80m in each 20g skein)

DK wool - like the 4ply, but bigger! (40m in each 20g skein)

4-ply merino bounce - this is a lovely soft and bouncy high-twist fine merino. (80m in each 20g skein)

4-ply sleek merino (organic) - this is a smooth, sleek merino with a gentle shine and a little more drape. (80m in each 20g skein)

DK merino (organic) - a soft merino yarn with a lovely drape. (45m in each 20g skein)

Swish mixes

Camel silk - new for this year! This yarn is as soft as buttery kitten-bellies, and glows like moonlight, and I think it will make the most luscious dark goth rainbow.

Swish mix - a collection of different and utterly lush bases, including alpaca, silk, cashmere, camel and mohair. This selection is wool free.

DEEP - I have one six-skein DEEP set (6 x 50gr skeins of the lushest 50% baby yak, 50% silk).

All of the bases are completely plastic-free - no nylon and no superwash treatment.

Patterns

Every yarn calendar comes with two patterns. You'll be able to choose any one of my patterns designed for advent calendars, plus one pattern designed for making the most of your scraps. I'll be in touch with details about the patterns available and the yarns & colour combinations they suit.

The new patterns for this year will be

• The Catmiration Shawl - subtly-catty gentle lace and texture, loads of fun to knit, wear it as a floaty shawl or an epic wraparound scarf or just let your cat nest into it. (They deserve it.)
• Deskscraps - a set of little bowls and holders, which will work with any weight of yarn, will be purrfect for nomming up your scraps, and will be perfect for keeping your stitchmarkers, needles and other little bits and bobs in order.

Extras

After you buy your calendar you'll get an email to let you add the stitchmarker calendar/ contrast skeins. This isn't automated (yet) so it may take a day or so.

Add on a project bag and enamel pin in a new-for-advent catty design, or go for the whole adventstravaganza, and get the stitchmarker calendar as well. This year's theme is Cats In The Winter Garden, so expect beasties and leaves and icicles and berries.

Extra skeins are available in the 2026, 2025 and 2025 contrasts (warm beige grey, dark blue-black and a light warm grey) as well as white.
