It's the yarn advent calendar!
Hey gloomsters and spooksters! This year we're going dark. It's the Spooky CatGothvent Calendar. The yarn will be a shimmering rainbow of deep, saturated jewel tones, haunted by spooks and ghouls, bats and little black cats, and crushed-velvet 90s-vampire-movie extras.
There are ten big 100gr skeins in each calendar, all individually wrapped and labelled.
The packaging is all recyclable. I try to keep it as minimal as possible while also fun for you to unwrap (and for me to put together).
As well as the yarn you'll find a pawful of little crafty extras scattered throughout the calendar.
The yarns advents shown here are last year and the year before's ones. This year will be different.

Bases
Wool bases
4-ply wool - this is a springy, bouncy, sturdy wool with a bit of crunch and character. (80m in each 20g skein)
DK wool - like the 4ply, but bigger! (40m in each 20g skein)
4-ply merino bounce - this is a lovely soft and bouncy high-twist fine merino. (80m in each 20g skein)
4-ply sleek merino (organic) - this is a smooth, sleek merino with a gentle shine and a little more drape. (80m in each 20g skein)
DK merino (organic) - a soft merino yarn with a lovely drape. (45m in each 20g skein)

Swish mixes
Camel silk - new for this year! This yarn is as soft as buttery kitten-bellies, and glows like moonlight, and I think it will make the most luscious dark goth rainbow.
Deep yak - super soft and lush, and glimmery gleamy.
All of the bases are completely plastic-free - no nylon and no superwash treatment.
Patterns
Every yarn calendar comes with two patterns. You'll be able to choose any one of my patterns designed for advent calendars, plus one pattern designed for making the most of your scraps. I'll be in touch with details about the patterns available and the yarns & colour combinations they suit.
The new patterns for this year will be
- the Toebean Top (cardigan and sweater versions available) - a swooshy, beany, gentle-lace extravaganza for swanning about in.
- Cat! Bunting! - which will work with any weight of yarn, will be purrfect for nomming up your scraps, and will let you festoon your life with little catties.
Extras
Add on a project bag and enamel pin in a new-for-advent catty design, or go for the whole adventstravaganza, and get the stitchmarker calendar as well. This year's theme is A Spooky Catvent, so expect cats and bats, cobwebs, spooks, vampires, creepy woods and haunted houses.
If you add the stitchmarker calendar I'll be in touch nearer the time to check which style of markers you'd like.
Extra skeins
The contrast this year will be a deep, dark nearly-black. You can add extra skeins now if you like. There'll also be a chance to add or remove them from your order in September, when you might have more of an idea what you're planning to make.
